Academic Accomplishments
Students arriving from Public Schools averaging scores of a 1 have excelled to a 2 within one school year for (ELA).
Students who have been with us for two years have fully reached the state standards with a score of 3 (met standards) in ELA (English Language Arts)
Some students who have remained with us for two years have exceeded state standards in both Math and English. (ELA & Math)
Material being taught (curriculum such as novels in Language Arts) have been chosen from 1-2 grade levels above the student’s current grade (ie: 6th graders are reading and comprehending 8th grade level novels).
Social and Communicative Performance
Students have lead plays and given speeches in the school show.
Students have participated in debates, implementing proper debate techniques and positions
Students have conducted research reports using MLA (Modern Language Association) citation techniques and requirements and have used this evidence to support their claims during their debates and speeches.
Students have had formal training from certified librarians regarding database training.
Students have visited art, science, and history exhibits on field trips, developing a sense of community amongst their school.
Students have authored their own “children’s books” for their fellow younger school mates.
Students have created projects centered around real-world affairs such as the refugee crisis.
Students authored articles published in the school magazine involving local events and global news; reports, and essays reflecting their experiences in school.
